Double Bay’s first small bar and restaurant, Mrs Sippy, toasted its three years in the spotlight with a Winter Garden Party to mark the occasion. The popular hot spot opened its doors to a glamorous crowd of socials and locals and threw a party last night that would have left many of Sydney’s social set thinking the weekend had started early!
The evening was celebrated by co-owners Benjamin May, siblings Kate and Andrew Stanway, and Angus Abrahams as a ‘thank-you’ to all their friends and regulars who have supported the venue throughout the years. Kate was thrilled with the turn out, ”It was such a fun night shared with so many familiar faces that have been with us from the very beginning.”
A stream of celebrities joined in on the festivities including The Daily Edition’s Sally O’Bermeder, Tom Williams and Kris Smith. Plus Tim Dormer, Casey Burgess, Airlie Walsh, David Whitehill and Jay Lyon all enjoyed a tipple alongside Matt Doran and Sam Mac from The Project.
Guests were welcomed with a glass of Moet Chandon and the soulful sounds of guest performer Dax Golding. The tunes were pumping to the wee hours thanks to resident DJ’s Murray Lake and Hugo B, with designer Alice McCall and Daimon Downey leading the dance floor.
A variety of canapés were flowing freely such as blue swimmer crab with chilli, oregano and parmesan arancini balls; roast angus beef with horseradish and celeriac crostini; rosemary crumbed lamb shoulder, and a selection of gourmet wood fired pizzas went down a treat.
Amongst the colourful graffiti, which has been Mrs Sippy’s signature design – the entire venue was decorated with a cozy winter garden vibe and flower installation, with upstairs being transformed into an Aperol and Bulldog Gin bar upstairs by Campari.
